As a unique example of this, at only thirty miles from Florence, built on a hillside near Castelfiorentino, strategically positioned on the Francigen Way, connecting France to Rome, the Castello di Cabbiavoli stands. Its history dates back to 1210, when the Conti Alberti family from Certaldo, the powerful and influent Lords of the Longobard Elsa Valley, built their castle. This wonderful building was later converted into an elegant Villa. The Conti Alberti family owned this property until the XVII th century. You may still see what remains of the 12th century castle observing the square brick tower and the walls next to the villa. The Chianti Valley surrounds the castle with its soft hills and undulated landscape, the land of historic and worldwide famous Wineries.
